Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Program Coordinator
General Summary
This position serves to provide administrative support to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and the Federal Select Agent Program. The EHS coordinator will work with employees from across Southern Research as well as outside contractors, service providers and vendors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Federal Select Agent Program File Manager
    • Coordinates biosafety, security, and incident response training compliance in accordance with Federal regulations.
    • Coordinates Objective Review Panel according to BSAT personnel suitability assessment program compliance.
    • Processes new and renewals Security Risk Assessment applications for A/BSL-3 personnel.
    • Coordinate fingerprinting with security officer.
    • Coordinates Medical Surveillance and Occupational Health requirements with occupational health clinic and other providers.
    • Coordinates with federal, state, and local entities to support emergency response drills.
    • Maintains SRA approved personnel and visitor records.
    • Maintains incident reports regarding safety, security, or emergency response related to the Federal Select Agent Program.
    • Maintains facilities preventive maintenance, decontamination, validation, certification, and annual performance validation records.
    • Processes and files work orders for EHS, more specifically A/BSL-3 facilities.
    • Assists in the overall documentation compliance with the Federal Select Agent Program.
  • Completes and maintains incident reports.
    • Maintains OSHA 300 occupational exposure records.
    • Coordinates for visitors, clients, and/or contractors' requirements such as scheduling for training, fit test, and medical clearance.
    • Maintains inventory of safety supplies and materials and orders individual safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.).
    • Orders supplies and equipment for EHS programs.
    • Processes payments, travel and reconciles expense reports.
    • EHS administrator for SR intranet and training platform.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum two years' experience working in a research or other highly regulated environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.

  • B.S. in a related field
