Summary

The Fixed Income Trading Desk Developer will work closely with the trading desk management, developing desktop tools and solutions to automate trading desk processes and the efficient flow of information between the trading desks and sales. The position is part of the overall Institutional Delivery organization and will closely coordinate with the broader software development team to ensure the adoption of Stifel's best practices, technology standards, and policies. The focus for the role will be developing desktop tools for the trading desk; where applicable, the resource may also collaborate with the development team on formal software development for larger trading desk platforms.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with the trading desk to develop custom solutions using desktop automation tools like Excel VBA and Python and business intelligence platforms like PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Analyze business processes and suggest technical solutions.
  • Be able to research and learn some key concepts specific to the fixed-income trading business.
  • Adhere to Stifel's security model and development standards.
  • Coordinate with the institutional development team on project escalation and shared resources.

Qualifications

  • Displays awareness of the impact of actions on the business and acts in line with it.
  • Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to problem resolution, strong troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration with teams on the business side as well as the technical side.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 2+ years working in the financial industry, with focus on data analysis and/or automation

Systems & Technology

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Proficient in Excel automation using VBA macros or Python.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience with standard business intelligence platforms such as PowerBI or Tableau is preferred.
