What You'll Do:

We are hiring a Building Services Technician for the corporate office in Birmingham, AL! The job entails performing daily maintenance and repairs on the company's furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The duties include assisting the supervisor with electrical and plumbing repairs and modifications, moving and rearranging office furniture and equipment, and keeping furniture and storage areas organized. Additionally, the job requires the use of a company vehicle to transport personnel, supplies, or materials safely and responsibly.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for assisting the Supervisor with electrical and plumbing modifications and repairs so that these facilities-related services are adequate and properly maintained at all times. Assists with modifying, changing, and adding electrical circuits, outlets, and fluorescent light ballasts as required in modular workstations and office space in general.
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and routine daily maintenance and repairs on Company furniture, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment so that Company investments will be maintained in the best possible manner and to provide a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for the assembly, disassembly, and relocation involved with changes to modular furniture workstations.
  • Responsible for moving and rearranging office furniture, modular workstations, and equipment so that uniformity is maintained and outside moving contractor costs are kept to a minimum.
  • Responsible for maintaining on-site storage areas in an orderly manner, including moving, placement and disposal so that furniture and equipment may be retrieved in minimal time and space is used efficiently and economically.
  • Responsible for ordering and confirming receipt of goods so that the Company pays only for goods and services it receives and funds are properly expended in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of assigned vehicles so that employees may spend their time or more important matters and be assured of access to a properly prepared vehicle.
  • Responsible for assisting as needed with courier service, conference and training room set ups, and other miscellaneous assignments as designated by the department manager or supervisor so that the department goals and activities are achieved efficiently and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 to 4+ years relevant experience (General Maintenance, Construction, etc.)

Electrical knowledge: 480-240-120 volt circuits and AC circuits, and working knowledge of building AC, fire, mechanical and plumbing systems required for the senior level positions.

Basic knowledge: Building codes, fire codes, OSHA and ADA codes required. Comprehension skills to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, controls and equipment is required for the senior level positions.

Technology Skills: Basic Computer Skills, Excel and Word required.

Moving Objects: Must have the ability to lift or move up to 65 pounds.

Safety-Oriented: Sets a safety tone for all activities; upholds the highest standards for protecting people and the environment. This position requires knowledge and awareness of site hazards. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Drivers License: Must also possess a valid driver's license.
