Position: Safety Director
Location: Bessemer, AL
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Director to join our team. The Safety Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our safety program to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards. The Safety Director will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program that meets or exceeds all applicable regulations and industry standards
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Review and revise safety policies and procedures as needed to improve the overall safety performance of the company
  • Serve as the company's liaison with regulatory agencies and industry associations regarding safety issues
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement best practices in safety
  • Maintain accurate and complete records related to safety
  • Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in safety management, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Associate Safety Professional, Certified Construction Health and Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other regulatory agency requirements and industry standards
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This job operates in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • This role will travel to other service branches and manufacturing locations- approximately 25% travel.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
