Description
ERT is seeking a Principle Software Engineer to join a team of researchers and developers supporting the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) in Albuquerque, NM. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 2 in-office days and 3 remote days/week. Additional flexibility may be permitted based on customer needs.
The software engineer's primary responsibility includes researching and developing space weather science phenomenology modeling, prediction, and forecast from science algorithms/prototypes into operational software applications, and advancing current R2O practices in methodology, processes, tools, etc. It requires both hands-on coding as well as technical management of interacting with customers. Design, develop, integrate, and maintain space weather science applications and perform full lifecycle software development activities. Experience or background in space weather science is highly desirable, but not required.
Required Skills
Preferred
U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a SECRET clearance to enter the government facility.
Education
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. MS preferred.
Location
Work is performed at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, with the possibility of an on-site or hybrid work schedule. Relocation assistance available.
