Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This COOP opportunity is at our research division (Kratos SRE) located in Birmingham, AL. The COOP requires a 3-semester commitment rotating working a semester then returning to school for a semester. This COOP rotation is for the following schedule: Rotation I Summer 2024, Rotation 2 Spring 2025, and Rotation 3 Fall 2025.

This position is responsible for SOLIDWORKS design and modifications, 3D printing and prototyping support to an engineering team as well as some computer programming and hardware integration activities. Candidates should have a strong aptitude in logic and math in addition to having an ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.i

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Design modifications for fixturing and research tools
  • 3D printing support
  • Additive Manufacturing support
  • Actively engage to fully understand hardware interfaces
  • Interface with engineers on new test design and research activities
  • Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned.

Required Experience:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications

  • U. S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Completed freshman year in engineering, physics, mathematics or other related field.
  • SOLIDWORKS experience
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed sophomore year in engineering, physics, mathematics, or another related field.
  • Programming experience

Candidates who display strong work ethic, scholarship, quality workmanship, problem solving, and time management are highly valued. This workplace is a secured facility and U.S. Citizenship, a background check, and drug test are required.

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work Environment & Conditions

This position is in an office and laboratory environment and sometimes requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses and protective shoes.
